Today, March 11, Uzhgorod said goodbye to 54-year-old soldier Oleksii Khotin.
The gunner of the machine gun platoon died on March 1, 2024, defending the Ukraine and remaining faithful to the military oath to the end, reports Uzhhorod city rada.
"The funeral rite took place on Narodna Square. Relatives, friends, Mayor Bohdan Andriiv, the military, and citizens came to pay tribute to the defender. A commemorative letter was read from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, as a sign of deep gratitude for sacrificial service in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the statement reads.
The editorial board of the "Voice of the Carpathians" expresses its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the soldier.
