President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree on the discharge of conscripts whose term of military service during martial law has ended.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree on the discharge of conscripts whose term of military service during martial law has ended.

The corresponding decree was published on March 7 on the website of the President's Office.

«... In April-May 2024, to discharge conscripts from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Special Transport Service, and other military formations established in accordance with the laws of Ukraine whose term of military service ... expired during martial law," the decree says.

Recall that on February 23, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted for the adoption of a bill on the demobilization of conscripts. The bill was supported by 319 deputies.

The draft law stipulates that during the general mobilization and the legal regime of martial law, conscripts whose term of military service ended during martial law and whose service was extended beyond the established terms are released to the reserve within the terms determined by the decree of the President of Ukraine.

At the same time, it is envisaged that such persons cannot be called up for military service during mobilization within 12 months from the date of discharge to the reserve, if they have not expressed a desire to continue their service.
