The authorities have taken tough measures to pay off utility debts.

In Ukraine, they took up communal debtors. Due to the outstanding debt, they can, at best, block the utility service. At worst, debts can lead to the seizure of property, blocking of bank accounts, and even eviction from housing, writes OBOZ. UA.

About what repressive measures the state will apply to communal debtors, the publication napensii told.

Due to the presence of a utility debt, the debtor can:

  • seize real estate;
  • take the car to the impound lot;
  • block all bank accounts - until the funds for debt repayment are completely debited.

By the way, even a pension card can be blocked if the debtor has no other accounts. It is allowed to deduct up to 50% of income from a pension card. But at the same time, there is a condition: after debiting, an amount that is not less than the subsistence minimum must remain on the card every month.

In addition, information about utility debts is transferred to the credit bureau, which may prevent the debtor from taking out a loan in the future.

Due to a large debt, you can get rid of expensive property or even your only home

In the case of a large debt for a communal apartment, the service provider has the right to apply to the court for debt collection. And by a court decision, even a roof over your head can be taken away from you.

Foreclosure can be resorted to if your total debt exceeds 20 times the minimum wage. Today it is 142 thousand tons. UAH. Of course, first of all, they will block bank accounts and try to take the debt from there. But if you are not rich in this, then they will try to "squeeze" something out of movable property.

However, if you do not have an expensive car, expensive paintings or expensive antiques, then real estate goes to pay off the debt. And if there is none, and there is not even another apartment in reserve, then the only housing can be seized. Of course, this is an extreme measure, but there are already precedents.

At the same time, if a minor child or a disabled person is registered in the housing, then the family cannot be evicted without the permission of the guardianship or guardianship authorities. However, they can give such permission. And then debtors will be left not only without a roof over their heads, but also without a child who can be removed from the family and sent to a boarding school.

To avoid such extremes, it is better to pay off the debt. And if it is impossible to do this immediately, then it is necessary to conclude agreements with service providers on the restructuring of utility debts.
