Where is the special Ukrainian village with its own monster?

In the Transcarpathian region, there is a lake in which, according to legend, either a dragon or a snake lives. This creature is called the Black Shuffle by the locals. It is likely that the water monster is descended from a plesiosaur.

The lake is located in the village of Dyida, in the Velyka Byyhan community of the Beregovo district. The population of the village is 2000 people, located 3 kilometers from the Ukrainian-Hungarian border. According to legend, either a dragon or a serpent lives in the lake near the village, says historian and director of the Karpat Center for Polling Research Fedir Shandor.

"In Hungarian mythology, which it brought with it in the ninth century, shuffling accompanies the history of the Hungarian people. One of the most powerful images that appeared both in mythology and in eyewitness stories is the famous black serpent or Fekete shuffle from Lake Didovo, once called the Black Mochar. If you see the Black Shuffle and the Black Mochar, the word black means that it is not recommended to walk in this area," says the historian.
