The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained an official of the Lviv City Council, who was involved in a corruption scheme. An official who worked in the Department for the Protection of the Historical Environment demanded bribes for the "approval" of documentation in the field of urban planning.

He promised "assistance" in the preparation of documentation for the reconstruction of real estate within the historical area of Lviv, contrary to the law. He demanded $2,000 for his services, according to the SBU Office in Lviv region.

The SSU documented the suspect's criminal actions and detained him while receiving part of the bribe - USD 1250. After searches in the offices of the department and at the suspect's place of residence, documents confirming the conduct of illegal activities were found and seized.

The bribe-taking official has already been notified of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 3 of Art. 368 (acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an improper benefit by an official) and Part 3 of Art. 369-2 (abuse of influence).

Currently, documents are being prepared for choosing a measure of restraint. The investigation is ongoing to clarify all the circumstances and identify other participants in this illegal scheme.
