Border guards of the Yablunivka department of the Mukachevo detachment detained two groups of border violators at the foot of the Carpathians.
This was reported by the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
First group
Four men were discovered yesterday afternoon by a border patrol that was covertly patrolling the mountainous section of the Ukrainian-Romanian border. Three of the detainees came to Zakarpattia from Kharkiv, their companion from the city of Cherkasy. The men admitted that their goal was to illegally cross the border with the help of a local resident. For the services of smugglers, each of the detainees paid from 6 to 8 thousand dollars. Operatives of the detachment have already identified and detained a man who provided violators with services to escort them to the border.
Second group
Another group of five men was detained by border guards of the same unit today at half past four in the morning. During the implementation of the information provided by the officers of the operational and search department, on the outskirts of the village of Vyshkovo, the squad stopped two residents of Kyiv region, a resident of Poltava, Kirovohrad and Kherson regions. Two of the detainees repeatedly tried to cross the border outside the checkpoints. They made their first attempt on the border with Hungary. For their "trip" to the mountains, each of the five men paid from 7 to 10 thousand dollars.
Next steps
With regard to the detainees, protocols were drawn up on an administrative offense under Art. 204-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses "Illegal crossing or attempt to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine". The case was sent to court.
