Over the past weekend, servicemen of the Chop detachment detained nine citizens of Ukraine who tried to illegally cross the Ukrainian-Slovak border.
This was reported by the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Six of them chose difficult mountainous terrain for their attempt, while the other three chose flat terrain near the city of Uzhhorod.
Border guards of the Novoselytsia department stopped two men who were walking in the direction of the state border. Both turned out to be residents of Odesa, who had already been detained the day before on the same section of the border. After being prosecuted, the men were released, but they decided to try to cross the border again.
The other two 'repeaters' were detained near the villages of Onokivtsi and Sil in Uzhhorod district. The 32-year-old Kharkiv resident waited two weeks after the first attempt and again followed the same route. A resident of the Zhytomyr region, who was also previously detained near the village of Onokivtsi, on the contrary, changed his location and headed through the mountains. However, the vigilance of law enforcement officers interfered with the plans of both.
Border guards of the Novoselytsia department detained three more offenders who dared to get out of Ukraine through the mountains. A Kharkiv resident and a Kyiv resident, who were traveling together, were stopped 100 meters from the state border. The men met in an online chat and planned a route using online maps.
Another offender was found and detained by a border guard dog. A resident of Khmelnytskyi region, making his way to the border, got lost and lost his bearings in a wooded area.
Two residents of Zhytomyr were detained during verification measures. The offenders decided to drive up to the border by taxi, but the border patrol stopped and checked the car. The men admitted that they had planned the route to the border in advance.
All detainees were taken to border units in order to clarify all the circumstances of the case and bring them to justice under Article 204-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses "Illegal crossing or attempt to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine". Their cases will be considered by the court.
