In Lviv, two medical workers are accused of extorting a bribe.

According to the information provided by the operatives of the Migration Police Department of the Lviv region, a neurologist and the head of the reception and diagnostic department of one of the Lviv medical institutions demanded an improper benefit in the amount of 1000 US dollars from the patient, a citizen of Ukraine liable for military service, the Police of the Lviv region reports .

According to their demands, the money was needed for the patient's stay in hospital treatment and for the execution of medical documents with false information entered in them. The patient could use these documents to obtain a disability group, evade mobilization to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and travel outside the state.

One of the defendants was detained in her office while she was receiving part of the illegal benefit. The detention took place in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings initiated under Part 3 of Article 368 (Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an improper benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine has been completed. The indictment has been sent to court.

The sanction of the article provides for punishment – imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years, with confiscation of property. Further consideration of the case will take place in court.
