The offender was caught red-handed.
Criminal police officers of the Police Department No. 1 of the Beregovo District Police Department, in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine, received operational information about the involvement of a local resident in the sale of drugs in the district.
"According to investigators, a 43-year-old native of the Tyachiv district, previously convicted of drug crimes, who currently lives in Vynogradiv, is involved in the crime," the statement said.
To stop his criminal activity, law enforcement officers initiated and conducted a number of covert measures, as a result of which it was possible to establish the time and place of the next meeting between the suspect and the client. Thus, in the course of control over the commission of the crime, the offender was caught red-handed — he had just handed over a plastic bag with methamphetamine and received a certain amount of money for the "goods".
Investigators seized money, a mobile phone containing the client's database and other information about the suspect's illegal activities, as well as drug products from the scene.
The suspect was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He was placed in a temporary detention center.
On the fact of drug trafficking, the police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Art. 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Investigators have already notified the detainee of suspicion. According to the sanction of the article, he faces up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
