The man set up a bunker where he kept a minor
The police detained a 50-year-old man for the abduction of a minor in the Bereznehuvate community of the Mykolaiv region. Investigators have notified him of suspicion
It is reported by RegioNews with reference to the police of the Mykolaiv region.
"On the evening of March 1, the police station No. 2 of the Bashtanka District Department received a report that at about 20:00 in one of the villages of the Bereznehuvate community, an 8-year-old girl suddenly disappeared from home. Relatives told the police that they suspected that the child could have been kidnapped by her grandmotherʼs former roommate, who had lived with her family for a long time," the police said.
Law enforcement officers, together with the military and villagers, began searching for the girl.
"Law enforcement officers inspected all buildings and premises of the village and its surroundings within a radius of 5 km, also inspected wells, forest belts, wastelands and fields. The territory was also tracked with the help of aerial reconnaissance," the statement reads.
As a result, outside the village, the police, together with locals, found a camouflaged cache underground, in which the attacker was hiding with the kidnapped girl.
The police immediately took the child away and took him to a medical facility. The offender was taken to the police. Currently, psychologists are working with the girl.
Under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office, the police served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 146 "Illegal deprivation of liberty or kidnapping" of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
