The neighboring country wants to resolve the issue of the long-term stay of refugees from Ukraine on their territory.

Poland has decided to settle the issue of long-term stay of Ukrainian refugees. The authorities will not prevent citizens from returning home and moving to other countries. This is because the state provides a small social assistance to newcomers – and it will not be possible to live comfortably on benefits.

This was reported by Today.ua with reference to DW.

Polish Ambassador to Ukraine Jarosław Huzy said that the government will remain neutral until Ukrainian refugees return to their homeland. It has no intention of hindering or exacerbating such a decision. Citizens must decide for themselves whether they should stay in the country or not.

However, Ukrainians are needed in the labor market, because there is a shortage of specialists.

"I mean the shortage of labor. An employer who employs Ukrainians convinces them to stay because it will be difficult for him to find a replacement for them. But the Polish authorities will not influence this in any way," Huzy added.

According to the official, some people decide to leave Poland for Germany, where there is more assistance for refugees. However, the Polish authorities are working to resolve the issue of the stay of Ukrainians in the long term.

"Poland is not a state that provides citizens with large social assistance. This is not a place where you can live comfortably on benefits, etc.," the ambassador stressed.

Yaroslav Huzy reminded that, according to the statements of the Ukrainian side, the blockade of the border with Poland will not affect military transportation. Aid with weapons regularly arrives in Kyiv. The Ambassador expressed hope that the amount of support for Ukraine would grow.
