The Zakarpattia Regional Prosecutor's Office sent an indictment against an organized group of five members to the court. They are accused of illegal cultivation of cannabis, as well as the manufacture and possession of narcotic drugs for sale.

According to the investigation, residents of Beregovo district set up a drug plantation on the territory of a former garden near the village of Karachyn. More than half a hundred cannabis bushes were grown there, which were later dried, crushed and a particularly dangerous drug – cannabis – was made from them for sale to the population.

The process of making the 'goods' after collecting the plants also took place at the home of one of the defendants. Special equipment for drying plants was found on the territory of his apartment.

Exposures and arrests

The illegal activities of Transcarpathians were exposed in October last year. At that time, law enforcement officers conducted a series of searches, during which they seized more than 20 kg of cannabis and cannabis plants, the estimated cost of which on the "black market" is UAH 2 million.

Smoking devices, electronic scales, cash in national and foreign currencies totaling about 10 thousand US dollars, bank cards, draft records and 9 vehicles were also seized.

Currently, three defendants are in custody, two are under house arrest.
