In Khust district, in the famous valley of daffodils, not only daffodils bloom.
Along with the warming, at the end of February, nature gradually began to come to life. Many of the Transcarpathians had the first spring flowers near their houses and in their gardens. As soon as the sun's rays began to warm the earth more, the famous Valley of Narcissus also flourished.
"The Narcissus Valley, known for the unique narrow-leaved daffodil, is incredibly rich in flora and fauna. There are a lot of Red Book flowers and they bloom from early spring and delight with charming buds until the end of autumn. Currently, Heifel's saffron and spring whiteflower have begun to actively bloom there. But there is also a dog's tooth, snowdrops and other flowers that delight with flowering. So far, it is not a solid carpet of flowers, but every day more and more flowers open their delicate buds," biologist Natalia Orinchai tells the "Carpathian Lens ".
Indeed, the Valley of Daffodils is special these days. There is high spirits and many people who want to admire the flowers walk along the paths with phones and cameras in their hands. People film the surrounding beauty.
"I'm from Mariupol. I have been living in Khust for almost two years. Last year I was at the flowering of daffodils and was fascinated," Olena Pavlovych admits. "Now I found out that you can see saffron in the reserve. These are, in general, my favorite plants. Together with our daughters, we came to have a look. I must admit that I am amazed by the Carpathian beauties. Such nature is really a gift from God."
"I'm a woman from a hust. I live nearby. I want to take photos of flowers for social networks. I take pictures of white flowers every year, because I like it very much. Since buffaloes have been living in Dolyna, I have been here quite often. I have never missed the flowering of the daffodils themselves for more than 10 years. Now you can start bees and even butterflies near saffrons. And it's incredibly inspiring. Insects are still a little flimsy, but they taste appetizing with nectar," Adelina Szabados emphasizes.
It is important to note that unique spring flowers can only be contemplated and photographed, as they are under state protection. It is forbidden to pluck both saffron and white flowers, such actions can be fined – from 510 to 3,655 UAH.
The Carpathian Biosphere Reserve warns that patrols and raids are now being carried out in the places where Red Book plants bloom with the participation of state security officers to prevent the destruction of rare flowers.
It should be added that the Narcissus Valley is a protected massif in the Kireshi tract near Khust. Its area is 256.5 hectares. The massif is part of the international network of UNESCO Biosphere Reserves. This unique botanical object is the largest natural habitat of narrow-leaved narcissus in Europe, which is listed in the Red Book of Ukraine.
