Dust from the Sahara reached Ukraine. A heatwave from the western Mediterranean that has brought us abnormally high air temperatures in recent days has captured more dust from the Sahara.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.
This can be clearly seen on the satellite image from the EUMETSAT platform. Residents of the western region could observe this yesterday, and today it will spread to most regions of Ukraine. The sky will be dim.
"Close the windows, dust can be harmful to people with respiratory diseases, the elderly and children," the message says.
Sandstorms in the Sahara are a fascinating and at the same time dangerous natural phenomenon that can occur in this vast desert due to specific climate conditions. Strong winds, dry desert surfaces, and elevated temperatures contribute to the formation of sandstorms, which can have serious environmental impacts.
These sandstorms can cause significant soil erosion and alter the desert landscape. Sand rising into the air during a storm can obscure the sky and create darkness. In addition, sandstorms can lead to flooding of settlements with sand, which creates serious problems for the inhabitants of the region.
The process of sandstorms in the Sahara is very impressive. The noise they make can be very loud, and the sand moving at high speed can darken the environment for several hours. This chaos brings instability and danger to people's lives and health.
