On the Dnipro reservoir, the ban will begin on April 5, and on the Kyiv, Kaniv, Kremenchuk and Kamianske reservoirs on April 8.
Fishing during this period is allowed only from the shore outside the spawning grounds with fishing rods with no more than two hooks per fishing or spinning rods with one artificial bait.
At the same time, during spawning, it is prohibited to move all vehicles or motor vessels on water bodies (except for established navigable passages), with the exception of vessels used by fish protection bodies and other authorized state authorities.
Commercial fishing and spearfishing are also banned.
For non-compliance with these requirements, fines and compensation for damage caused to fisheries are provided.
During the spawning period, fish guards of the State Fisheries Agency monitor water bodies in an intensified mode.
"The powerful natural spawning instinct becomes the main one in fish, it muffles the reflexes of self-preservation. At this time, fish can become easy prey for poachers. Today, in the conditions of war, when the Russian occupiers are already destroying the lives of our fish populations everywhere, it is very important to give the fish the opportunity to spawn in peace. Therefore, I urge everyone to be responsible for spawning fish and adhere to the established restrictions," said Ihor Klymenko, Acting Head of the State Fisheries Agency .
