The mobilization age was reduced in Ukraine: Zelensky signed the law.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a bill to reduce the mobilization age from 27 to 25 years. The relevant draft law was adopted by the parliament on May 30 last year.

This was reported by the Verkhovna Rada.

The President also signed a law on the electronic cabinet of a person liable for military service, which had been waiting for signature for two months.

In addition, draft law No. 10313 on ensuring the rights of military personnel and police officers to social protection was signed today. It provides for the abolition of limited fitness for military service. Men who had this status must undergo a second medical examination within 9 months.

Even when the parliament supported the draft law on reducing the mobilization age last year, the Ministry of Defense noted that this decision was justified by the fact that during the legal regime of martial law, there is no need for conscripts under 27 years of age to be on the military register.

In particular, the need for the annual arrival of conscripts to territorial recruitment and social support centers, including for medical examinations, leads to additional financial costs, a burden on medical workers and an increase in queues for medical examinations. At the same time, conscription under martial law is not carried out.

Also, the long stay of conscripts on the military register during martial law leads to the fact that a significant number of citizens fit for military service who do not have the status of persons liable for military service cannot be involved in military service under conscription during mobilization.

The Ministry of Defense notes that draft law No. 10062 on the electronic cabinet of a person liable for military service is critically important for Ukraineʼs defense capability, as the implementation of its provisions will contribute to the rapid collection, processing and use of military data, as well as finally transfer services and processes for military personnel to a convenient digital format.
