Only a few know that these seemingly "harmless" assistants are the real "monsters" when it comes to electricity consumption.

They turn the meter madly: the devices that eat up a quarter of the electricity in the house are named

Many people are not in the habit of unplugging appliances from the outlet – because they think that when they are turned off, they do not consume electricity. However, this is not the case.

There are definitely two appliances in your home that "eat" more than a quarter of electricity on their own - and they usually don't even think about them, according to Radio Track.

What appliances in the house use the most electricity?

It may seem to many that washing machines, or boilers, consume the most electricity, but in fact, the usual TV and computer affect electricity bills the most - they occupy 28% of the electricity consumed monthly.

For example, a computer, if used daily for 5 hours, will consume up to 20 kWh per month or even more. The TV consumes about the same amount. It is also worth considering that powerful gaming computers and large TVs can have even higher electricity consumption - up to 80 and 30 kWh, respectively.

It is because of this that experts advise unplugging these appliances when you are not using them. And for maximum savings, it is also advised to use a laptop rather than a computer.

Here are a few more appliances that consume a lot of energy in the home:

  • refrigerator;
  • washing machine;
  • electric kettle.

The latter device, by the way, consumes from 10 to 22 kWh of electricity per month. Meanwhile, a microwave oven consumes about half as much electricity on average over the same period.

You also need to pay attention to the hair dryer - this seemingly harmless device, if used for only an hour a week, can take from 2.5 to 5.5 kWh.
