A reptile as black as night was spotted in the Carpathian forest. A video with a poisonous snake was posted on the network.

Transcarpathia is rich in diverse flora and fauna. Snakes are one of the permanent residents in Transcarpathia, in particular in the Carpathians. Most of the reptiles that we have do not pose a danger to humans, because they are not poisonous and their bite will only cause wounds from the teeth, but they do not pose a threat to human life and health. Although it is impossible not to mention that we also have rare and poisonous individuals, meeting with which is dangerous. One of these is the melanist viper or Nikolsky's viper, it is poisonous and there may be problems from its bite, it is also worth noting that there is no vaccine for the venom of this viper in Ukraine.

Nikolsky's viper is a subspecies of the common viper, listed in the Red Book of Ukraine. Usually adults are completely black, the bottom of the tip of the tail is yellowish.

Newborns are gray or brown with a dark zigzag stripe along the spine.

This is the largest among the poisonous snakes of Ukraine, which can exceed 80 centimeters in length.
