Forecasts say that in 2025 the world's population will reach 9.7 billion people. Hawking's resonant statement caused heated discussions in scientific circles.

Back in 2017, British scientist Stephen Hawking made a loud statement about the imminent approach of a global catastrophe. Then the scientist expressed the opinion that very soon our planet will become uninhabitable. This will happen due to the excessive heating of the Earth and the depletion of its natural resources.
This is stated in the publication opentools.ai
Hawking believed that the resources to sustain life on Earth would be completely exhausted by the year 2600. Such a tragic development of events will lead to overpopulation and the reckless use of natural resources. As a result, the planet will simply turn into a "fireball".
Hawking's resonant statement sparked heated debate in scientific circles. Some scientists supported the genius's concerns. Others criticized this vision of the future of the Earth. In particular, according to NASA analysts, it is simply impossible to determine the exact date of such a disaster. However, the space agency notes that climate change and a significant reduction in the planet's resources are already being observed. Therefore, humanity will have to overcome significant challenges related to environmental degradation and climate change.
According to scientists, our planet no longer has time to restore resources. Currently, the rate of consumption is already 1.75 times higher than the potential for recovery. At the same time, this figure is likely to grow. Forecasts indicate that already in 2025 the world's population will reach 9.7 billion people. Therefore, NASA calls on humanity to reconsider its approaches to the use of resources and more actively develop green energy. Thanks to this step, it will be possible to reduce carbon emissions into the atmosphere.
At the same time, NASA is actively developing ambitious programs for interplanetary colonization. In particular, as part of the Artemis mission, the space agency plans to resume manned flights to the moon. NASA is also studying Jupiter's moon Europa. This mission was called Europa Clipper. There are also more ambitious projects. For example, the private research and engineering project Breakthrough Starshot plans to develop technologies that will make it possible to get to the nearest star in 20 years of flight.
So now scientists are divided into two camps. Some support initiatives designed to preserve and restore the environment. Others are looking for ways to colonize space. NASA, on the other hand, considers the development of both directions to be the most realistic strategy. Space agency experts agree that efforts must now be made to preserve our planet. At the same time, analysts do not rule out that humanity will still have to travel through outer space for a long time in search of a new home.
