In Svalyava, the police detained a driver who fatally injured a pedestrian
The day before, on March 24, at 7:00 p.m., the "102" hotline received a report of a traffic accident in the city of Svalyava, Mukachevo district.

On the call, the investigative and operational group of the police and investigators of the Main Police Department of the region immediately left. Law enforcement officers conducted priority investigative actions and inspection of the scene.
"It has been preliminarily established that a 46-year-old local resident, driving a Lexus, was moving along Holovna Street. The woman did not take into account the traffic situation, as a result of which she ran over a 67-year-old man who was just crossing the roadway. The pensioner died on the spot from his injuries," the statement reads.
The 46-year-old driver was examined - she was sober behind the wheel. The vehicle was placed in the police impound lot, and the defendant was detained by the police in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
"On the fact of violation of traffic safety rules, which caused the death of the victim, investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Transcarpathian region opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
A number of necessary examinations have been appointed in the case to establish all the objective circumstances of the accident. The investigation into the case is ongoing," the department concluded.
