A drunk driver committed a terrible accident on the highway "Kyiv-Chop" (PHOTOS).

On March 4, at 12:10 p.m., a traffic accident occurred on the Kyiv-Chop highway within the village of Lyubyntsi.

The driver of the Audi car, a 55-year-old resident of one of the villages of the district, lost control – the vehicle slid into a ditch. As a result of the collision, the driver of the car and his passenger, a fellow villager aged 59, were injured and taken to the hospital, according to the Police of the Lviv region.

In addition, it was established that the driver of the Audi was driving under the influence of alcohol. In fact, investigators of the Stryi District Police Department opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286-1 (Violation of traffic safety rules or operation of transport by persons driving while intoxicated) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment - imprisonment for up to three years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of three to five years.

The driver of the car was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint for him. A pre-trial investigation is underway, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
