Investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Zakarpattia region, together with officers of the Security Service of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service, exposed another scheme of illegal transportation of men of military age across the "green" border. The canal functioned within the Rakhiv district.
"Law enforcement officers found out that three Transcarpathians were involved in the organization: a 25-year-old resident of Rakhiv, a 31-year-old resident of the village of Kalyny, Tyachiv district, and a 41-year-old resident of the village of Luhy in the Rakhiv region," the statement said.
In the course of control over the commission of the crime, the police detained accomplices while trying to smuggle a group of five conscripts to Romania: two Transcarpathians, two residents of Chernihiv and Vinnytsia regions, as well as a man from Kharkiv region. After successfully crossing the state border, the fugitives had to pay the defendants 4 thousand dollars each.

"Investigators and forensic specialists of the Investigation Department seized mobile phones, a Toyota Land Cruiser car, which the defendants used to transport their clients to the border line, and bank cards from the scene.
Three suspects in the organization of the crime were detained by law enforcement officers in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and placed in a temporary detention center. On the fact of illegal transportation of men across the border, committed for mercenary motives, the police opened criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine," the department said.

Investigators under the procedural supervision of the Zakarpattia Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Western Region informed the detainees of suspicion. Also, they have already been remanded in custody with the possibility of bail.

The offenders face up to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property. Currently, law enforcement officers are identifying other possible accomplices of the scheme. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
