Border guards discovered a hidden find in a foreigner's car (PHOTOS)

An unusual event occurred at the Dyakivtsi checkpoint. A Romanian citizen who arrived in his own car lost his car due to 400 packs of cigarettes hidden in it.

During the inspection activities, the inspector of the Border Guard Service drew attention to the nervous behavior of the driver. This prompted the border guards to decide on an in-depth inspection of the car, reports the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

During the inspection, border guards of the Chernivtsi detachment, together with customs representatives, found cigarettes hidden in the floor of the vehicle. In total, about 400 packs of cigarettes without excise tax stamps in the amount of 28.5 thousand hryvnias were seized.

The car, which was used for the illegal movement of excisable goods, was also seized. The event caused a wide resonance among the local community and sparked a discussion of the problem of cigarette smuggling across the border.
