A terrible accident in the West of Ukraine: a woman ran over a pedestrian and fled the scene (PHOTOS)

The traffic accident occurred on February 29, at about 20.00, on Stusa Street in Chervonohrad. An unknown driver, driving an unidentified car, ran over a 51-year-old local resident and fled the scene. As a result of the accident, the pedestrian was injured and hospitalized.

Officers of the Patrol Police Response Sector together with investigators of the Chervonohrad District Police Department established that the man was run over by a 20-year-old local resident who was driving a Mazda 6. The police established her whereabouts. The car that was hit-and-run was seized for impounding.

In fact, investigators of the territorial police unit opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided for by the sanction of the article is restriction of liberty for up to three years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.

The police are establishing the circumstances of the incident, examinations have been appointed.
